BBC Radio 3 Free Thinking Festival at The Sage Gateshead

All of Year 6 had collected peoples’ memories of how Jesmond has changed over the last 25 years. They worked with Jesmond Local and the BBC to produce an audio slideshow which was shown in The Sage concourse durng the weekend festival.

Some of our Year 6 pupils were roaming reporters at The Sage and recorded visitors opinions about change in the past and hopes for the future. They also formally interviewed David Almond, the award winning children’s author who wrote Skellig, and Toby Jones, he actor who has starred in many films including playing the Time Lord in Dr Who and Dobby in Harry Potter. This was a very valuable and memorable experience for those pupils and the challenge of reporting and interviewing really tested us all! You can listen to our interviews at
