Welcome to West Jesmond School

A very warm welcome to visitors, pupils and parents.

Opened over one hundred years ago, West Jesmond Primary is a thriving, successful school serving a diverse community in a very popular residential area.

We have built on the strengths and traditions of the original school to provide a broad and exciting education for children aged four to 11.

Providing our children with a secure environment that actively encourages their academic, personal and social development is of the utmost importance to us. On 2 March 2009 pupils and staff moved into a superb, purpose-built new building, constructed on the site of the old Victorian school.

We are delighted with our new surroundings, which have created a great sense of space and light, flexibility for education into the future and immense ICT capability.

While the ‘family feel’ of our old school has been maintained, our new building is a state of the art learning and community facility.

Ours is a school with a strong reputation for high standards and our latest Ofsted inspection judged us to be an outstanding school.

We aim to provide exciting opportunities for every child to succeed in a wide range of activities. We want children to be excited by learning and set themselves high standards. Our children develop a strong sense of community by learning and playing together and develop lasting friendships, tolerance and understanding.

And just as all parents, we want them to feel happy and secure.

I hope this site will provide helpful information, not only to those who are new to West Jesmond Primary. I would also like to welcome pupils, parents, governors and Friends of the school.

Please come and visit us in our exciting new school. I would be delighted to meet you and would welcome you to talk to our staff and pupils and experience first hand the superb facilities we have. As a visitor, pupil or parent it is important to us that you enjoy your time at West Jesmond Primary. We look forward to continuing the development of this very special school together.
