Gary Wallis-Clarke

Headteacher

My role is to provide the strategic vision and leadership for the whole school. I have the responsibility of ensuring that all our children are safe in school, receive excellent teaching and make the best possible progress in learning that they can across the curriculum.

My main daily tasks include monitoring and evaluating the work of the school, setting and balancing the school budget and working with the governing body and parents. Through weekly assemblies and individual conversations with children I aim to make our high expectations of behaviour, respect for others and uniform as clear as possible.

Joanne Elliott

Deputy Headteacher

As Deputy Head teacher I work closely with many groups; the Governors, Head teacher, all staff, children and parents to ensure that everyone feels welcome, supported and valued within our large West Jesmond Community. A significant part of my role is one of curriculum development and I work closely with subject co-ordinators, particularly in English, Maths and Science, to monitor the delivery of these curriculum areas in school and track pupil progress. I am also heavily involved in the pastoral care of our children.

Dianne Sanderson

Assistant Head

Supported by Margaret Charlton, she is also Personal Health Social Citizenship Education Coordinator.
Building relations and improving communications with new and existing parents is an integral part of Dianne Sanderson’s role.

As the bridge between parents and the school, Dianne’s role is giving parents information about the curriculum, courses and via ongoing feedback, find out what our parents' needs are, their suggestions and any improvements they feel the school could make.

Jill Whitehouse

Assistant Head

I am currently a Year 6 teacher with full time responsibility for a class. In addition to that I Co-ordinate ICT across the whole school and share pastoral responsibility for children in Y3 and Y5 along with their class teachers. I also work closely with the headteacher and deputy head as well as all staff to build effective links with our families.

Judith Reed
