In light of recent developments with the Coronavirus outbreak and recommended school closure, it is important that while the children are not at school during this time, they continue their learning.
We appreciate that many of you will be working from home with your children in the house, so to try and make this manageable we have collated some useful resources (both online and printable). Individual log-in information for websites and apps, where it is required, can be found in your child’s reading diary. This information is designed to provide guidance and to support you when the opportunity arises for you to work with your child.
Thank you for your support and we hope to see you all soon.

We have been using this online resource in school regularly in lessons and the children should be confident accessing maths activities. There is a raft of games and learning screens to support them.

It is important to continue to develop your child's Phonics, Reading and Writing skills. The following activities and website links will help to support this. Some of these activities can be completed online and your child has been allocated an exercise book to record some tasks.
In Year 1 we focus particularly on writing simple sentences with capital letters, the correct punctuation (!?.) and finger spaces. Letters should be formed accurately and sit on the line and children should check their writing makes sense by rereading it. In reading we focus on fluency, accuracy, expression and comprehension skills. For phonics, children need to consolidate and revisit Phase 3, 4 and learn the sounds in Phase 5.
Books are allocated according to each child’s phonic phase. New books will be issued when your child has read all their allocation. New books can only be allocated if all ‘bug’ questions within each book are answered – while your child may have read the book, it is not marked as completed on the system if they have not completed these questions, and we are unable to allocate more books. Please also take the opportunity to read books at home for pleasure and try to do some form of reading each day. Try to find some time to discuss the book - retell the story, make predictions, discuss the characters, setting and plot. Ask questions to develop comprehension skills and to check your child's understanding of the book.
We have been using this online resource in school regularly in lessons and the children should be confident accessing English activities. There is a raft of games and learning screens to support them across reading, writing and phonics.
New spelling lists will be issued on a Monday on a rotating weekly basis. Please continue to practise spellings using the interactive activities provided. If you are issued with spellings that your child thinks they have already learned then this will be a consolidation task and they should try writing these words in sentences.
The activities on this website are a great way to keep learning phonic sounds and blends. Due to the current situation this website is now free to sign up for parents/carers. There are many online interactive activities and printable resources available for Phase 3, 4 and 5.
