Year 5

Miss Jordan Gemma Jordan

Class Teacher

Hello, I'm Gemma Jordan. This is my 13th year teaching at West Jesmond and my fourth spell in Year 5. I am really excited about the year ahead and the topics we have planned, including the work we will do on civil rights and equality. I am also very passionate about the school's drive to be 'Eco' and environmentally aware, which I lead with Mrs. Edwards. When I'm not at school, I love spending time with my family both in Newcastle and Scotland.

Mr Mark Rimmer

Class Teacher

I'm Mark Rimmer and have been a teacher at West Jesmond for nearly 8 years. I am really looking forward to another great year in Year Five and am especially excited for our work on the Americas and the Home Front during World War Two.
I also work alongside Mrs Laidler on developing DT provision and skills across the school, lead the annual Shakespeare school production every autumn and also help to lead West Jesmond's Got Talent.
Outside school, I'm a keen (if inconsistent!) tennis player and support Wycombe Wanderers on their march to the promised land of the Premier League!

Mr Tariq Farooqi

Class Teacher

Hi! My name is Tariq Farooqi. I have worked at West Jesmond for many years!! I am delighted to back in Year 5 this year. I am the PE and Sports leader in school so I am looking forward to all the exciting sports activities we have planned this year. Also, I can not wait to read all the exciting stories that Year 5 study in English. Outside of school, I love spending time out in the countryside and coast of Northumberland.

Welcome
Hello everyone and welcome to Year 5! We hope that you are settling into your new year group and we are all looking forward to an exciting year ahead. This year, we will be investigating some really exciting topics as well as building on what you learned in Year 4.
